Obituary

Smith, Ninna Porter, 96, of Richmond, VA went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2024.  She was born on September 30, 1927 to Thomas Hall and Hazel Taylor Porter. She was the sixth child of 10 children. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years Sidney W. Smith, Jr., her parents, brothers Thomas Porter, Howard Porter, Morris Porter, Marvin Porter, sisters Katherine Harrington, Dorothy Porter, Betty Wade and Audery Jonas. She is survived by her daughter Teresa S. Milliner (Curtis), son Sidney Thomas Smith.  Three grandsons Dale Morgan (Scarlett), Joey Morgan (Jessica) and Justin Smith (Briana Rathmell). Five great-grandchildren Hannah Morgan, Preston Holden, Jackson Morgan, Aurora Smith and Atticus Smith. A sister Marie P. Payne, numerous nieces and nephews. Ninna was affectionately known as Granny. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to be surrounded by her family. She stayed home and raised her children until they were in high school.  She then went to work and retired from Philip Morris with 21 years of service. She was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church for over 50 years. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Hardens Chapel Cemetery, 1557 GA Hwy 56 East, Lyons, GA 30436. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 37098, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234 or Suncrest Hospice, 7301 Forest Ave., Suite 110, Richmond, VA 23226.
