Obituary

Foster, Norwood, 78, of Midlothian, VA, departed this life on January 21, 2009. Norwood, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Peggy; his five children and their spouses, Randy and Alease Foster, Kerry and Chris Foster, Kim and Bill Coffey, Kara Foster-Weiss and Larry Weiss, and Krista and Barry Simmerman; his grandchildren, Kyi Foster and his wife, Brooke McKinney-Foster, Kaitlin Coffey, Kaci and Joshua Foster; his great-grandchildren, Aiden and Maddox Foster; sisters, Karnelle Branch and Martha Hopkins; brother, Paige Foster. Though his family is saddened by his loss, they find hope and encouragement in the fact that a great reunion is occurring in Heaven as Norwood is able to see his parents, Percy and Arline, his brother Preston, and his grandson, Kevin Foster. Norwood served in the U.S. Army and fought bravely in the Korean War. He was a devoted member and deacon of his church, Friendship Baptist. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Friday with funeral services to be held at 11 am at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Interment will be held at 3 pm Friday at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund.

  1. I have fond memories of Norwood’s visits to mamaw’s he was such a soft spoken man. I am praying for the family at this time and in the coming days, find comfort in knowing that Norwood is with is precious Savior Jesus Christ along with a host of family members that are rejoicing in his presence.
