Obituary
Patricia Elaine “Lanie” Fulton, beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026 in Henrico, VA at the age of 68. She was born on July 23rd, 1957, in Richmond, VA to Cleopatra “Patsy” Pappas Fulton and Claude Maurice Fulton III.
Lanie was preceded in death by her parents, Patsy and Claude, her brother William Todd Fulton, and her niece Elizabeth Frazier Hovenac. She is survived by her daughter Tyler Laine Meacham, her husband Douglas Rhodes Meacham, her siblings Keira Fulton-Lees and Eric Norman Fulton, her aunt Shirley Crowder, her nieces and nephews Tiffany Fulton DeMayo, Bradley Fulton, Skylar Garmon and Grayson Garmon, and her soon to be son-in-law Chip Hale.
Lanie graduated from Carlisle School in Martinsville, VA in 1975. At age 18, she began working in the file room at USF&G, eventually rising through various underwriting roles to spend her final 19 years as a distinguished Executive Middle Market Underwriter and Industry Director at Hanover Insurance. She recently celebrated her 48-year career and retirement. She was a cherished colleague by so many.
Her creative eye and passion for scrapbooking brought her some of her closest friends, and she loved spending weekends at crops working on pages together. Her favorite place in the world was at the beach, where she spent hours reading books by the water and soaking up the sunshine. Not only was she an adored mom to Tyler, but also cat-mom to Finn, Zazu, Foster and Cody.
Lanie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for her family and friends. She possessed tremendous strength and courage over her five year battle with cancer. She never abandoned her faith in God and hope for the future.
A memorial service will be held in celebration of Lanie’s life at Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield, VA with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to FightCRC or Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
