Obituary

R. Nancy Bergen, 93, of Chesterfield went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 27, 2025. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Daniel M. Bergen, Sr. (“Dan”).

She is survived by her son, Daniel Michael Bergen, Jr. (Christina), daughter, Diane B. Huff (Stephen); grandchildren, Hilary H. Tarcza (Andrew), Seth C. Bergen (Nayara), Wade S. Huff (Kathryn), and Shannon Rohrer (Christopher); great grandchildren Alyssa, Ella, Kameron, and Sophie; brother R. Clinton Etris (Lita); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was born on April 20, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Rebecca Q. and Ralph W. Etris. After marrying, Nancy and Dan moved to Florida where they remained for 30+ years and raised their two children. They were drawn to Virginia in 1988 after the birth of their first grandchild. Nancy enjoyed being part of the Nifty Fifty Club in their Highlands neighborhood of Chesterfield, playing bridge and participating in various social events with friends and neighbors. She loved opera and classical music, traveling, reading, and being outdoors in the sunshine. Nancy was a good friend to all who knew her. She was also an exceptional mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was devoted to her family. She will be dearly missed and always remembered lovingly.

Nancy’s Celebration of Life service will be held on April 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church, 10551 Chalkley Road, N. Chesterfield, VA. Lunch will be served following the service.
