Obituary

Rachel Lindsay Ammons, 92, of Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023. She was born on September 18, 1931 in Virginia to the late Leonard Carlton and Sadie W. Lindsay. Rachel is also preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Ammons, Sr; her son, Doug Poindexter; brothers, Carlton and Rayford Lindsay; and sister, Henrietta L. Pender. She is survived by her sons, Greg Poindexter (Pam), Steve Poindexter (Linda), and Jay Ammons (Carol); grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Tucker, Rachel, Blake, Layne, and Hunter; great grandchildren, Owen, Troy, Paisley, Tek, Bodie, and Piper; sister, Emily L. Brown; and many nieces and nephews. Rachel retired from Reynolds Metals after 25 plus years of service. She was a faithful member of Beulah United Methodist Church for over 55 years. The family would like extend a special thanks to Dr. W. Philip Morrissette, III, the staff at The Pearl at Watkins Centre, the staff at Watercrest Memory Care, and the staff from Nayar Health Care and Hospice for their loving care. Rachel always enjoyed serving others at their time of need and spending time with her family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 2901 W Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831. Followed by her Celebration of life at 11:30 a.m on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Beulah United Methodist Church, 6930 Hopkins Rd, Richmond, VA 23234.
