Obituary

Raymond C. Anderson, 77, of Chester, VA departed this earth on August 9, 2021, in spirit to “Go Home” to be with his parents, Andy and Mildred; brothers, Gene & Steve; and nephew, Butch. Raymond was a strong believer in freedom and liberty, thus accepted his duty to sign on to the US Air National Guard, 1965-1971 to serve his country. He spent more that 2/3 of his life with Dupont Fibers as an electrician. Raymond is survived by his nieces; Belinda (Mike), Laura (Keith); nephews, William, and Robert (Valerie); great-nieces, Megan and Lia; and sisters-in-law, Joanne (Gene) and Mary (Steve). Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 am at Maury Cemetery, 2700 Maury St. Richmond, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403.

    With a heavy heart I heard Raymond had passed on but with fond memories I recall him at Dupont. He was always kind and friendly to me and I remember him on the electrician’s softball team behind the plant as well as about socially “many moons ago”. He seemed such a gentle spirit with a cute grin and I liked being in his company. After retiring I would once in a while see him at Ukrops in the morning and I made a special effort to ask how he was doing. Condolences to his family and to Raymond I’ll look up with a wink and a nod imagining him grinning back at me. God bless.

    I worked with Raymond at DuPont for many years. I am sorry I will not be able to attend his service on Friday as I am in South Carolina. Our condolences to the family. Mike Harris
