Obituary
Raymond “Bodie” Sherdell Miller, 94, of North Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was born on January 8, 1929, in Richmond, VA to the late Samuel C. and Cora Miller. He is also preceded in death by his former wives, Edna B. Outhouse and Lois L. Miller; son, Dennis L. Moore; son-in-law, Sam A. Piercy; and his six siblings. Bodie served his country proudly both in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received nine medals during his time in the service. After 65 years he retired from the window industry at age 90. Bodie was a lifetime member of the VFW. During his free time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Bodie was a member and honorary deacon of Falling Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Jo Anne L. Miller; two daughters, Joan Miller Piercy, Debbie Miller; son, Kenneth E. Moore (Jean); stepdaughter, Sherry L. Reeves (Kevin); stepsons, Richard W. Ledford (Donna) and C. Eddie Ledford (Michelle); nine grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 am to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. His graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
