Obituary

Richard (“Rick”) Dennis Woodlief, 69, of Disputanta, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 8, 2022.  He was born on April 30, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia, the son of the late Roy Woodlief and Margaret Oney of Chesterfield, Virginia.  

He is survived by his three children, Lori Carter (Mike) of Chesterfield, Chris Woodlief of Matoaca, and Kevin Woodlief (Chrystal) of Matoaca; his four grandchildren Chesney Woodlief, Abby Carter, Ethan Carter, and Madison Carter; brothers, Roy Woodlief, Donald Woodlief, and Larry Oney; sisters, Jean Sullivan (Tim), Linda Davis, and Dale Tutton (Bob); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brothers Johnny Woodlief and William Woodlief.  

Rick was a great man, an amazing father, and the world’s best grandfather.  His grandchildren were his world, and he loved spending time with them whether it be a sporting event, going bowling, getting ice cream, going fishing, or just sitting down and talking.  They cherished every minute they were able to spend with “Papa”/ “Papa Rick”.  He affectionately had nicknames for each of them – Chesney (“Pooter Grace”), Abby (“Abby-Grace”), Ethan (“lil buddy”), and Madison (“Maddie-poo”).  

Rick was a graduate of Manchester High School.  He retired in 2019 from Pohlig Brothers as a machinist.  Rick enjoyed several hobbies, including fishing, relic-hunting, golfing, or cheering on his beloved UVA Cavaliers.  He loved talking about the Bible and discussing history with his friends and family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 15th from 6:00-8:00PM at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, Richmond, VA 23234.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16th at Dale Memorial Park at 11:00AM.
