Obituary

Richard E. Hottinger, Sr., affectionately known to family and friends as Pop, He passed away on June 10th 2026 at the age
of 92. A resident of Amelia, Virginia,

Born on July 31, 1933, in Louisa, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charlie and Edith Hottinger. He was
preceded in death by  his beloved wife,Norma C. Hottinger,  Together, they shared 41 years of marriage.
also Preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Richard is survived by one sister, Roselia H. Kerley, He also leaves behind his five
children: Willie E. Hottinger (Nancy), Licia Hottinger, Franklin Leroy Hottinger (April), Anita Fay Fletcher
(the late Charlie Fletcher), and Richard E. Hottinger, Jr. (Robin).
He was the proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he worked as a photographer. Richard lived a long and memorable life filled with Hard work,Hunting and Fishing but most of all he loved to tell jokes.

Throughout his life, he held a variety of jobs, including Wonder Bread bakery, with McLean Trucking Company, and later as

He was known for his strong work ethic, resourcefulness, and ability to fix almost anything.
One of his greatest passions was working on small-engine equipment, and he could often be found tinkering
with engines or helping others with repairs. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending
time outdoors.
Those who knew Richard will remember his wonderful sense of humor. No matter where he was or who he was with,
He always had a joke to tell and he had a way of making people smile. His quick wit, storytelling, and friendly
nature made him a joy to be around.
More than anything, Richard cherished his family. He took great pride in watching his children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren grow and build families of their own. The memories he created, the lessons he shared,
and the laughter he brought to others will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
The funeral service celebrating Richard’s life will be held on June 22nd at Morrissett Funeral Home Iron Bridge Rd.
Richard will be laid to rest at Dale Memorial Park Cemetery.
