Obituary

Richard “Dick” Michael Panchyshyn, Sr., 85, of N. Chesterfield, VA passed away on Friday May 14, 2021, after saying farewell to his devoted family. Born in Rochester, NY December 1935, Dick proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, serving in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. His awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, 4 Strike Air Medals, and various Service and Campaign Medals. He served as a Crew Chief onboard UH-1 (Huey) helicopters, retiring after 20 honorable years. Afterwards, he moved to Richmond, worked in management, and retired from Philip Morris. Dick enjoyed vegetable gardening, presenting a meticulously kept yard, but by far, spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Panchyshyn; sister, Ann Prizzi; and grandson, Christopher. Richard is survived by the love of his life of 64 years, Anne; his son, Richard, Jr. (Susan) of N. Chesterfield; daughter, Theresa (Frank) Gillett of Midlothian; son, Stephen (Dorina) of Virginia Beach; 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Friends may visit from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May19 2021 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd, Richmond. On Thursday, May 20, please join the family for his Funeral Liturgy at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr. N. Chesterfield, VA 23235. Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 24 at The Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va.
