Obituary

Robert “Bob” W. Adams, 87, of Chesterfield, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 23, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gracie Adams; wife, Betty Jean Adams; and brother, Raymond Adams. Robert is survived by his son, Bobby Adams (Linda); two daughters, Karen Cash (Ronnie), Courtney Battista (Mark); sister, Marjorie Cheatham; grandchildren, Nicolette, Wayland, Jordan, Corinne, Chris, Kevin, Jason, Brian, Guy, Michael, Leo, Noah; 16 great-grandchildren; beloved nieces; a host of extended family; and close friend, Jimmy Norby.

After being born and raised in Blackstone, VA, he attended and graduated from RPI (now VCU). After graduating he started his own business, Adams Heating and Air Conditioning, in 1963 which he owned and operated along with his wife, Betty. Robert enjoyed getting to know his customers and over the years he developed great relationships with them. He thought of his employees as family and enjoyed their times together, never missing a day of work. He owned a successful auto racing operation for over 20 years, with hundreds of victories with the “Flying 11.”  He enjoyed NASCAR racing, William and Mary football and many other sports. He enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren through their various sports, but his most favorite things were traveling, shopping, and enjoying the beach with Betty.  He was a longtime member of Meadowbrook Country Club, and always enjoyed their Wednesday night buffet. Robert also adored his beloved cats, Midnight and Sadie who were always by his side. Above all, he always provided for his family and cared for them deeply. He lived a very successful, enriched and fulfilling life and his family will miss him dearly. His legacy will live on through the work ethic that he passed down and the family will be forever grateful for his wisdom. Robert’s family would like to thank his caregivers, Juanita, Rhonda, Annette, and Elsie. 

The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service. His funeral service will be held on June 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 6600 Greenyard Rd. Chester, VA 23831. Entombment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. Robert’s strong faith in God was always present. He was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church where the family suggests donations be made to in lieu of flowers.
