Obituary
Robert Phillips, 70, of Chesterfield, died peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tristan Phillips. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Phillips; sons, Shane Phillips (Annie) and Beau Phillips (Ryan); sisters, Carol Smith (Keith) and Donna Smith (Perry). Papaw is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Lauren, James, Collin, Jacob, Ayu, Kayla, Keri, and Alyssa. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060.

Barbara, I am thinking of you. I always enjoyed and appreciated working with you and Rob at the Commission, and I considered you both to be my friends. You and Rob had a wonderful partnership that was a joy to see.

Barbara and family, Rob will be missed by so many. I’ll never forget him jumping in the elevator to scare me. I will never forget the times he came to visit Barbara but she was busy and he would stop at my desk and we would talk. When he went out on disability every morning when I opened my email I would have several jokes from him. It truly made my day. Barbara when I first started at the Commission you took me under your wings and treated me like family, both you and Rob. I will always be there for you and your family.
