Obituary

Robert Elston Greene, “Reg” 58, of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026. Born on February 22, 1967, in Richmond, Virginia, he lived a life dedicated to service and community.

Reg worked as a 911 dispatcher for 17 years as an employee of SOAR365. As a child, Reg was a boy scout and earned his eagle scout badge as a young teenager. Reg was a devoted life member of Manchester Volunteer Rescue squad, Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads and District 3 of VAVRS. His unwavering commitment to helping others exemplified his character and values.

Reg was an active member of Mount Calvary Baptist church in Matoaca, Virginia, where he served as a Deacon and was part of the hospitality committee. Outside of his community service, he found joy in traveling with his wife, fishing, crafting, woodworking, and leatherworking, pursuits through which he expressed his creativity and passion.

Reg was preceded in death by his parents O. E. Buster Greene and Mary Anna Greene (Cousins). He was blessed with a loving family, including his devoted wife, Bonnie Greene, his sister Beppie Zuban (George), nephew GW Zuban (Katie), their children Spencer, Hattie and Andy. Niece Ashley Rogers (Matt), their children Landon and Mackanzie. Step-children Nicholas Hagans (Megan), Kurtis Hagans (Emily) and Mel Hagans and one grandson, Gavin Hagans. Robert was affectionately known as Reg by his friends and family, Uncle Turkey by his nieces and nephews, and Grandpa Reg by his grandson.

Reg’s memory will be honored in a celebration of life service by his family and friends on February 7, 2026, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church located at 19600 Halloway Ave in Matoaca Virginia 23803 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to his home church.
