Obituary

Roger “Ed” Edward Pond of Chesterfield Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2025. Ed passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Karley Pond and son Kincer Pond by his side. Ed was born in Richmond, Virginia on August 29,1968 and graduated from Meadowbrook high school in 1987. Eddie, as he was known to his high school friends, played football for the Monarchs. After graduation, he began his lifelong career working as a HVAC specialist. Ed married the love of his life, Karley Pond on September 30, 2006 and they later welcomed their son Kincer Pond on April 19, 2009.

Ed was a great man of faith, a loving husband and wonderful father. He was a selfless, hard-working man and excellent provider for his family. Ed was passionate about fishing and he and Kincer spent many hours fishing for bass on Lake Gaston. He also passed on his love of sports to his son, especially their shared love for the Washington Redskins. In addition, he volunteered as a coach for both Kincer’s football and baseball teams. Ed was never the head coach, Ed preferred to stay in the dugout where he could encourage and help the boys get ready for their next play. Ed had a great sense of humor and could keep people laughing, seemingly without even trying.

Ed will be greatly missed by Karley and Kincer as well as his family and friends. His family will receive friends Thursday, March 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Morrissett Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28th at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Morrissett Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Southlawn Memorial Park, Petersburg VA, 23805.
