Obituary

Ronald Andrew Redford, a lifelong resident of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, loved beyond measure. Born and raised in Richmond, Ron built a life rooted in faith, kindness, and deep connection with others.

He met the love of his life, June, on a blind date, beginning a beautiful relationship with a marriage that spanned nearly 59 years. Together, they built a family and raised two daughters, Jill and Susan, whom he loved dearly.

Ron was a man of great faith and a gentle, kind spirit. He had a remarkable gift for radiating love and peace, and it drew people to him. Wherever he went, he was greeted by friends, many of whom had become part of his life simply because of his warm and magnetic nature. To know Ron was to love him.

He dedicated 37 years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia through his work with VDOT before retiring. Not one to stay idle for long, Ron found joy in continuing to connect with others through his part-time role at ACAC, where he greeted everyone with his signature smile and a genuine, welcoming spirit. It was a role that suited him perfectly, reflecting the joy he found in connecting with others.

Throughout his life, Ron demonstrated incredible strength, facing health challenges with resilience and grace. Through it all, he remained the same sweet, steady soul his family and friends cherished.

Ron found joy in music, especially the voice of Andrea Bocelli, and was a longtime member of the Bon Air Baptist Church choir. In his later years, he became an avid reader, devouring books so quickly that even the library struggled to keep up. Above all, he treasured the simple comforts of home and time spent with family, including his granddog, Spanky.

Ron’s life leaves a lasting legacy: to choose love, to lean into faith, especially in difficult times, to show kindness to all, and to never lose hope, always keeping it close to your heart.

He is survived by his wife, June Redford; daughters, Jill Cox (Jay) and Susan Redford (Prashant); granddaughter, Kaitlyn Cox; grandson, Trevor Cox; brother, Andy Redford (Lynn); and sisters, Nancy Rosas and Elaine Michaels (Walt).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Bon Air Baptist Church music program in his honor.

Ron’s memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 28 at Bon Air Baptist Church, 2531 Buford Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23235.
