Obituary

Ruby Jeter Saferight, 97, of Chesterfield, VA passed away peacefully on her birthday, Monday, June 29, 2026. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Wilson Saferight, Jr; her parents, Lewis Edward and Susie Slaughter Jeter; sisters, Hattie Arline Engle, Edna Blanche Lewis, and Marie Allen Jeter; brothers, R. Edward, Erby L., Ernest N., L. Woodrow, Leland G., H. Eugene, and C. Garnet Jeter.

Ruby is survived by her son, Harry Wilson Saferight, III (Cathy); two grandchildren, Kristen Sophia Whitlow (Travis) and Michael Ryan Saferight (Kimberly); four great grandchildren, Skylar Cathleen Whitlow, Bryson Wilson Whitlow, Carter Ryan Saferight, and Lawson Michael Saferight; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was a long-time member of Asbury United Memorial Methodist Church, the Cathedral Choir, and the Elsie Banton Guild which was originally known as the Westlyn Service Guild.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
