Obituary

Sharon Roddy, 67, of Chester, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2022. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bessie and James Congdon; two brothers, George Congdon Jr. and James Congdon III. She is survived by her beloved Husband of 36 years, John Roddy; sister, Harriet Bloxom; daughter, Angela Roddy; son, Daniel Roddy; best friend, Julie Ray. She is also survived by a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and friends that will miss her greatly. Sharon graduated from Thomas Dale High School in 1974. After graduating from John Tyler School of Nursing, she became a registered nurse where she worked at Chippenham Medical Center for over 30 years. After retiring in 2014, she enjoyed Drag Racing at Virginia Motorsports Park and Richmond Dragway. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family racing and working on cars. Some of her favorite shows included Street Outlaws, Degrassi, and Game of Thrones. Throughout her life she adopted many animals to include dogs and cats. If it were up to her, she would adopt every animal in the shelter. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service. Her final resting place will be at Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Richmond Animal Care and Control where she adopted her beloved cat, Abby, from.
