Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. It is hard to believe my mom is no longer here with us. I could not have asked for a better mother, role model, best friend and Nana. My mom was loved dearly by so many and fought such a courageous battle for the last three years. My mom was one of the strongest people I know and even though she was sick for the last three years she never once complained. She always pushed on, had a positive attitude and kept on fighting her battle and had faith. My mom’s smile could light up a room. You could always count on my mom to brighten up your day if you were having a bad day or give the best advice if you needed someone to talk to. My parent’s love for each other was the perfect example that marriages could last forever and that true love does exist. You could tell they were crazy about one another. My mom is going to truly be missed dearly each and every day but deep down I do find peace that she is no longer suffering from such a horrible sickness and that she is in Heaven with our savior no longer suffering. Mama may you Rest In Peace and watch over us and your four grandsons that absolutely adore you.

Sherrie I will always remember the day I meet you. You were truly a ray of sunshine. Thank you for accepting me into this family. Thank you for being there when needed. It’s still so hard to wrap my head around the fact that your gone. Tomorrow is your Big day. Your homecoming celebration. I know it’s going to be amazing. You will truly be missed by all, but always remembered in our hearts. I love you
