Obituary
Shirley R. Overton passed away May 8, 2023. He was born May 21, 1933 to W.S. “Buck” Overton and Maggie (Blackwell) Overton in Granville, North Carolina.
Shirley is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Janie Inez Overton; his son, Randolph Thomas; his daughter, Pamela Elaine Weaver; and 8 siblings.
Left to cherish his memory include his children, Sylvia Reed (Calvin), Linwood Overton (Denise), and Gwen Taylor (Jimmy); 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy T. Overton (Linda), Willie Lee Overton, and Mildred Newton; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Shirley was a General Contractor and a lifetime member of Webber Memorial Baptist Church. He also enjoyed his square-dancing group, Circle 8; vacations visiting the mountains and beach; and vegetable gardening.
The family will receive friends at Webber Memorial Baptist Church, 7800 Salem Church Road in N. Chesterfield 23237, on Tuesday, May 16th, from 10am to 11am with a service following at 11am. Dr. William Gunter will be officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Webber Memorial Baptist Church.

Uncle Shirley was such a loving , gentle soul, I’m so blessed to have had him and his family,a big part of my childhood.
My heart so deeply goes out to his children and siblings.Heaven has gained another Angel to watch over us..I love you Uncle Shirley .
