Obituary

Shirley York Reed, 88, was received by the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2024. She was born on April 20, 1935, to Harold and Elizabeth York in White Plaines, NY. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald Reed, of 67 years.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Stanley York (Marie); sons Richard (Dee), Calvin (Sylvia), Phillip (Angie), Gregory (Richard), and former daughter-in-law (Jackie); 11 grandchildren; 21 great- and 2 great-great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and close friends.

Shirley worked as a telephone operator in Ogdensburg, NY before relocating to Richmond, VA in 1965. She retired from Chesterfield County Public School System as a student bus driver for special needs children with 33 years of service. Shirley was very active in the Women’s Circle at New Covenant Presbyterian Church serving the community. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. Her funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832
