Obituary

Simon H. Waugaman, Jr., 88, of Chesterfield, passed away on November 18, 2021. Born August 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Simon H. Waugaman and Judy Waugaman.

Simon is survived by his loving son, Chris Waugaman (Stephanie Bishop), and loving friend Lynda Howard, and preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Waugaman, and son, Craig Waugaman.

Simon graduated from Mercersburg Academy and the University of Maryland. In the mid 1950s, he served in the Army Transportation Corps in Berlin scheduling trains.  Upon graduation from college, he moved to Richmond with Sandra and began his 35-year career working at DuPont Fibers Company. While raising his sons, he volunteered as a coach with the Chesterfield Baseball Clubs (CBC). He loved watching sports and was an avid Maryland Terrapins and Detroit Tigers fan. He was also a devoted supporter of his fraternity Phi Delta Theta, Maryland Alpha Chapter. He enjoyed attending Ampthill Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield regularly.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the friends and medical professionals who gave support and who served as caregivers, including the staff at DaVita Hopkins Road, DaVita Hioaks, and St. Francis and Chippenham Hospitals.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), N. Chesterfield, VA, with his funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.
