Obituary

Stacey Marven Nelson, 69, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marbry and Olga Nelson, and his wife, Mary (Debbie) Nelson. He is survived by his daughters Tiffney Smith (Tim) and Heather Capel (Dan); his grandchildren Brandon Capel (Amanda), Stephanie Kestle (Joey), William Capel, Nolan Smith, and Weston Smith; two great-grandkids Gemma and Gunner; his newly adopted and cherished cat, Lola; his brother Steve Nelson; and his sister Shurla McManus (Stephen).

He was born in Indiana and moved to Virginia in the 80s where he worked most of his career at Philip Morris (Altria) and later retired to Lake Gaston (NC). In 2024, he moved to Ellenton, FL to enjoy warmer weather and to be in close vicinity to his siblings. He loved throwing darts, bowling, fishing, jet skiing, Pink Floyd, Stephen King, Tik Tok and playing games.

He never recovered from the loss of his wife of 34 years until the day he was reunited with her in heaven. His family mourns the loss of (what had hoped to be) new memories and adventures with him in the years ahead, but they are thankful for the short time they were given. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 10:00 am  with a reception immediately following the service at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd, North Chesterfield, VA 23234
