Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

Arthur,
Thank you for writing. I agree that every August will be quite different. My father would have turned ninety-five this month, and everyone at my home looked forward to that milestone. However, the years we had with him will be fond memories.

Thank you both. Family was important to my father, and he tried to maintain connections with everyone. My family and I appreciate that you took time to be part of the recent service.

Thank you Michelle. My father was very fond of you and appreciated that you had reached out to him recently, through me, to say hello. The past few weeks have been difficult for me and my family, but your kindness, and the kindness of others, helps as we move forward through our grief.

Steve and Angela,
Stan was bigger than life, one of my favorite friends of all time. He influenced my life over the past 25 years. He was proud of you and shared many stories about family, especially about your children. I know this is a difficult time, however, your dad made a huge impact in this world and now can enjoy eternity with your mom. I’m sure he’s making his mark in heaven.
All my prayers are with you and your family.

Thank you for the kind words about my father. He often spoke of you, and he valued your friendship. I am glad that he had such a good friend. My father did live with a great deal of physical discomfort, and knowing that he is free from pain and enjoying a perfect reunion with my mother brings solace to me and my family.
