Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

Thelma was such a large and important part of the running of the CEA. She was typing and making copies before computers and digital copying capabilities, and before any VEA UniServ staff were in the office. She made the CEA President, Board, and members look good. She typed speeches and stayed late to help us get "Alerts," on orange paper, into large envelopes and into Reps’ hands and into schools when we were in a crisis.
I remember when she had to crank the mimeograph machine to make copies and had to count them one by one, as she pulled the crank. We all helped each other. It was always a team effort and we laughed a lot. She was my calm in storms, and she had the most wonderful laugh. Her eyes would twinkle!
Thelma was at the CEA office when Dawn Campbell was the CEA and District C President. She was there when a scholarship for teachers was named in Dawn’s memory. I have contributed to the "CEA Dawn Campbell Teachers Scholarship" in Thelma Owen’s memory. It was my great privelege to have known and worked with such a wonderful lady.

I want to extend to you, Kim, and your Family – my deepest sympathy at the passing of your beloved Mother. I remember during the illness & death of my own Mother – what a loving & caring friend youwere to me. Such – I will never forget.
I remember also during those years
how diligent you always were in looking after your Mom – fixing her meals – making sure she had what she needed, etc. I know it meant a lot to her.
Keep the Happy Memories of your
life in your heart – for your Mom
also will be in your heart forevermore. She is at Peace now
as she walks the streets of Heaven.
No worries. No sorrows. Just a constant assurance that she is
completely healed and has no pain
or struggles.
May God Bless you, Kim and be with
you in the weeks and months ahead.
God walks beside you always and
never leaves you alone.
May God Bless you, my friend…..
