Obituary

Smith, Thelma Jones, 82, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2009. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen, Louise, and Lillian, and brothers, Buck, Alex, Bill, and Donald. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth E. “Smitty” Smith, Sr.; daughters, Lenora S. Mitchell (Chris) and Melissa S. Nehrbass (Brian); son, Kenneth E. Smith, Jr. (Martha); brother, Horace O. Jones; nine grandchildren, Tammy Duval, Mark Mitchell, Allison Colglazier, Sean Mitchell, Kevin Smith, John Mitchell, Amy Mayer, Leslie Marble, and Kim Lauria; and 20 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tory, Morgan, Nicole, Nick, Michael, Jocelyn, Benjamin, Faith, Nathan, Emory, Ivy, John, Ethan, Elijah, Christian, Paul, Jaylen, Braydon, and Katelynn. Thelma was a member of Ruth Chapter #8 Order of Eastern Star, a long-time member of Branchs Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Class, and the ACCA Shrine Provettes. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Saturday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Her funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 10 am Monday in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o ACCA Temple, P.O.
