Obituary

MALLORY, Thomas “Tommy” Otis of North Chesterfield passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on July 26, 2022, at the age of 92. The youngest of four children of George and Cora Mallory, he is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jean Mallory, daughters Donna Harper (Mark) and Carol Mathews (David), grandchildren Dustin Harper, Marcy Kerr, Mallory Hudson, Allison Goldstein (deceased), and seven great-grandchildren all of whom he enjoyed immensely. Tommy was a proud Navy Veteran where he served as a machinist, a trade he made into a career – first at Experiment, Inc., which later became Texaco and then finally at Reynolds Metals. An accomplished, self-taught musician, Tommy enjoyed singing and playing piano in church choirs and vocal groups.

Dear Family of Mr. Mallory – My family and I wish to extend our most heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mr. Mallory. We didn’t have the pleasure of knowing him, however, in seeing his obituary in today’s Richmond Times-Dispatch, I was surprised to see that his military service and career paralleled my dad’s (born in 1920 in PA, he passed away in 2003). Also a Navy veteran (he served as a machinist on the USS Amphion during World War II), my dad – Maurice Jacob Jones – settled in Richmond where he worked for both Experiment, Inc. and Reynolds Metals beginning in the 1950s. Dad met and married my mom in 1962 and retired from Reynolds with 35 years’ service as a machinist and manager (Research and Development, Can Division). I have a good feeling that Mr. Mallory and my dad were not only co-workers at both Experiment and Reynolds, but also friends. Take good care, and please know that my husband, son and I are wishing your family comfort and peace at this difficult time. – Kind regards, Karen Jones Cheek & Family – Glen Allen, VA
