Obituary

Tyree Sidney Newton, 81, of Powhatan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 1, 2021. Tyree was a U.S. Navy veteran and was an ordained minister in the Nazarene Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Judith Newton; daughter, Tammi N. Tomlinson; sons, Ted (Patricia) Newton, Tim (Jeannie) Newton, and Chris (Meera) Newton; grandchildren, Jacob, Tabitha, Amber, Brian, Maddie, Robbie, Mandi, Joshua, Jonathan, Kayla, Megan, Thomas, Stephen, Tiffany, and Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Hurley. Tyree was preceded in death by his son, Mark Daniel Newton; father, Marvin Newton; mother, Cora Cowley; son-in-law, Shawn Tomlinson; great-grandson, Mason Newton; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Ironbridge Rd. (Rte. 10). His funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3400 Courthouse Rd. in Chesterfield County. His final resting place will be at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
