Obituary
William Christopher “Chris” Newton, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 26, 2025. He was 63 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tyree Sydney Newton and Judith Wingo Newton; his beloved grandson, Mason Newton; and his brothers, Mark Daniel Newton and Timothy Robert Newton.
Chris is survived by his wife, Meera Newton; his children: Robbie Newton (Chrissy), Amanda Newton, Joshua Newton (Stacey), Jonathan Blankenship, Kayla Newton, and Megan Newton; his siblings, Ted Newton (Patricia) and Tammi Tomlinson; and his grandchildren, Katlyn, Hudson, Abigail, Ainsley, Decker, and Sawyer. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, both here in the U.S. and in Trinidad.
Chris was a man of deep faith. His relationship with God was the foundation of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to share the hope and truth of the gospel. Teaching others about the love and salvation found in Jesus Christ wasn’t just something he did, it was who he was. Even in his final days, that mission never left his heart.
He also had a remarkable sense of humor. Chris had a gift for laughter; he could lighten any room with a quick joke or playful comment, and he made it his mission to bring joy to those around him. He was always ready with a story, a grin, or a perfectly timed one-liner and he never met a dad joke he could laugh at all by himself.
Chris will be remembered for his quick wit, goofy sense of humor, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children and in the many people whose hearts and lives he touched through his words and example.
A public visitation to celebrate Chris’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234 and all who knew him are welcome to attend. Chris’s celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to tell someone you love them or better yet, make them laugh.

Chris I wish I had the words to heal the hearts of all that knew and loved you but I know there are not that would suffice. You will be missed always. Sending prayers to your family and friends as you now are flying high above in the presence of our Lord and those who have also gained their wings. RIP until we are reunited

Family, you have such great hope for the reunion, let Christ comfort you during this short time in between. Chris was a doer, both of the word of the Lord, and whatever his hands found to repair, design, or reconstruct. His passion to see people come to and grow in Christ was evident to me and my family. Commander Christian, we salute you as receive your heavenly reward.

Chris was a fine friend and a great travel buddy on the mission field. He was a faithful husband, father and friend. I will miss him until I see him in Heaven.
Meera, you have our love, prayers and support. We love you and the girls and care deeply about your future. I cannot imagine the grief.

Chris’s Family,
The Memorial service today was Beautiful. Your Family should be so proud of the Legacy Chris has left each of you with. Keep the FAITH as Chris did. Prayers will continue for each of you. I knew the Newton Family from Richmond Southside Church of the Nazarene. What a precious Family. I have so many great memories from your Family.
