Obituary

William Earl Godsey Jr., 79, passed away September 4, 2022. He was born July 11, 1943 to William Godsey Sr. and Ellen Godsey in Richmond, Virginia. He attended Thomas Dale High School and had an electrical apprenticeship at Richmond Tech Center. He was an electrician for 55 years, beginning a family legacy of electricians. William was witty, liked Nascar racing, and perfected the eye roll. But above all, he loved his family. He was happily married to Arlene Godsey for 28 years.

William was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Godsey. Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Arlene Godsey; his children, Ken Godsey (Sheila), Keith Godsey (Kim), and Susan Chandler (Carl), Tina Shoaf, Dee Allred, and Joe Shoaf. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his best friend, Dave Hodges.

A memorial service will be led by Reverend Betty Hobbs at 11am Friday, September 9, 2022 at Family of God Church, 2500 Point of Rocks Road, Chester, VA 23836. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Family of God Church.

    My husband my best friend. God took you on September 4th and it’s breaking my heart so bad . I was not ready for you to leave me. I know you are in a Better place , and probably walking around saying hi to everyone you knew.
    You gave me your heart for 28 years and I thank you for that. I will cherish all of our memories and I have so many that we had together.
    I will stroll through heaven with you one day until then my love for you will never end.
