Obituary
Dance, Mr. Wilton Alexander, 84, of Chesterfield, VA, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2018. He was surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and William Dance; and sister, Jean “Sally” Norris. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Anderson Dance; daughters, Lynda Dance Heithaus (Gregory) and Deborah Dance Royall (Jesse); grandchildren, Rebecca, Jay, Kimberley, Mark, Brandon, Pamela, Matthew, and Amy; and eight great-grandchildren. Wilton worked at DuPont and ICI Americas prior to his retirement. Although he loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting, especially coon hunting, most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a man who lived the philosophy that a husband and father’s primary responsibility was to take care of his family and he always put them first. He loved being surrounded by his family, especially his numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, as well as the close bond he formed and maintained with friends and co-workers. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). A celebration of Christian funeral services will be at the funeral home the following day at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.

Forever thankful for a strong and loving father who encouraged everyone to do their best and to appreciate everything, including a pretty day, the water, animals and always family. Lynda, I have thought of you over the years reflecting on our carpool rides to VCU. We had spirited discussions about politics, and even though we disagreed much of the time, I treasured our discussions. I did not know your dad, but it is clear to me from what I read in his obituary that he had a huge influence on you. He raised a clear thinking, Christian daughter with a good head on her shoulders. I am truly sorry for your loss. It hurts terribly to lose a parent. Remember the good times, and be thankful for growing up in a Christian home with a loving mom and dad. Love to you and your family.
