Bryan H. Walker, 87, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving daughter, Katherine Walker and her husband, Vance Thomas; sister, Elizabeth Youngblood and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Della and Harold Walker; son, David Walker; sister, Dorothy Crump and brother, William Walker. Bryan was born and raised in Richmond and was a Thomas Dale High School Graduate. He went to work for IBM where he later retired after many years of faithful service as a Field Engineer. Bryan was very active in his community and had a love and passion for preserving Chesterfield history. He served on for 30 years on the Chesterfield County Preservation Committee, and also volunteered with the Chesterfield Historical Society, the Friends of Chesterfield’s Riverfront, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, and the Jefferson Davis Association. Bryan was one of the Founders of the Bensley Civic Association and the Falling Creek Ironworks Foundation. The Chesterfield Board of Supervisors Honored Bryan in April 2017 for his “significant contributions in the promotion and preservation of the historic fabric of Chesterfield County.” When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed collecting and tinkering with antique cars. He would often drive his 1963 Oldsmobile in various parades around Chesterfield and Richmond. Bryan enjoyed taking walks through his neighborhood and meeting new people. He was also a man of strong faith and love for the Lord. He was a member of Sherbourne United Methodist church, which was founded by his grandfather, and volunteered in the church food pantry. He was a member of the Chester Masonic Lodge #94, and he also previously served as a volunteer at the Bensley Fire Station. Bryan was a blessing to many people and his kind and sweet smile and humble spirit will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Chesterfield Historical Society or the Falling Creek Ironworks Foundation through his personal memorial page at
