During the last week of June Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service hosted a community blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross. Our goal for the day was 30 units, and we are proud to say that we far surpassed that goal. We had a great turnout and all of the available time slots for donors were filled. Amazing!
We would like to thank all of the donors and volunteers who helped make this event possible. When we work together we can do great things!
Hosting a blood drive during a pandemic may have presented extra logistical challenges, but it was worth it to help save lives. While many of our anticipated 150th anniversary service projects & events have been postponed or cancelled we remain committed to giving back to the community. In these uncertain times, full of change, what has not changed is our commitment to the families we serve as we help provide comfort and closure during the grieving process.
We also remain vigilant to ensure the health and safety of our employees and clients. We are following the government and CDC guidelines regarding safe operational procedures for businesses, as well as that of the National Funeral Directors Association, Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services. Feel free to contact us is if you have any questions about the extra precautions we have in place. Face masks will be worn at all times by staff as well as visitors and hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed throughout the building for your safety and convenience. We promise to work with you and your comfort level and desires to find the right way honor your loved one while also ensuring the safety of everyone in attendance. Services and gatherings may be private or public, and online streaming options are also available.
