Obituary

Darren Greene, 56, of Midlothian, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Darren was preceded in death by his father, Cletus Wayne Greene. He is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Greene; beloved kids, Kristen Robbins (Richard), Amanda Greene, and Devin Greene; sister, Teresa Harnish (Rick); brother, Jeff Greene; former wife and best friend, Theresa Groome (James, Darren’s bonus brother); and grandson, Jaxith Wayne Patteson.

Darren was a forklift mechanic for 29 years. In his free time, he enjoyed deep-sea fishing and had a love for Blue Marlins. For shore fishing, he loved fishing at Frisco Pier in North Carolina. When he wasn’t catching fish, he worked on a 1989 S-10 project truck with his son, Devin. Between the two of them, what was once old is now new. Darren was a real-life MacGyver; give him a rubber band and a paperclip, and he’ll make a fishing rod out of it. He took pride in his fabrications. Just like his father, he never stopped and was always tinkering around. In his mind, there was always something that needed to be done. Above all, he was a loving father to his three kids. Though he was taken from us so soon, his memory will live on forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to The American Sleep Apnea Association to help raise funds for sleep apnea research. Funds will also help those needing assistance with sleep apnea resources, such as the C-PAP Assistance Program.(https://www.sleephealth.org/donate/)

Donations can also be made to the North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (https://checkout.square.site/buy/QBJZBJJCT4WN5DZN4UNVOEJK). Darren was an active member of the association and supported being able to continue to drive on the beach in the Outer Banks.

  1. I wish you were still here with your family, me and our three adult children…..Darren.
    You were taken too soon.
I know you’re at peace now.
That doesn’t help the void we all feel due to losing you so suddenly.
I loved you and will always love you.
I will do my best with our children and grandson Jaxith. I hope our grandson follows in your path as a fantastic mechanic some day.
    Until we meet again.
    Lil Fart ❤️
