Obituary

James “Sonny” Browder, 86, of Chesterfield, died Sunday, January 21, 2018. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Carol Cottom Browder; children, Barry Browder (Theresa), Diane Browder Williamson (Ricky), and Wesley Browder; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Gertrude Browder, and his sister, Phyllis Banes. James was a sheet metal worker for Local 100. He was a member of ACCA Provost Guard for 34 years. He was a member of Bethany Christian Church for over 60 years and served as an elder. James was an avid history reader, he liked to go fishing and go on cruises. He also enjoyed his vegetable garden. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). His church service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Bethany Christian Church, 5400 Forest Hill Ave, Richmond, VA 23225. Interment will be private among his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bethany Christian Church in his memory.
