He was a good guy and a great father for the family. His name will not be used in grief, but instead as a father, husband, friend to everyone. Instead of grieving we should be celebrating a good live and going on to a great new chance and opportunity in Heaven.

Our lives intersected at a fitting point, the end of high school and the beginning of college and working life. We kind of needed each other as we learned how to navigate the world outside of a schoolroom. We liked the same music; I made him tapes of Springsteen albums and he introduced me to the Grateful Dead’s great version of Good Lovin’. Though we did not spend much time together before we went our own ways, those times were some of the best in my life, and I hope he recalled them as fondly. We would laugh so hard we’d fall down. Mike was a gentle giant who communicated kindness and inclusiveness in words and actions. Very thankful that our paths crossed if only briefly and praying for his children and loved ones and hoping that Mike knew how much he meant to everyone blessed to have known him.

I had the honor to call Mike my friend for roughly 30 years. I will cherish every memory I have of him. It didn’t matter if it was camping trips, concerts, cook outs, or just hanging out and watching wrestling pay per views, Mike made it memorable. I will miss you buddy. Until we meet again.
