Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

Absolutely disgusting! Even though there was nothing illegal about what was done with that poor dog, I hope to GOD the people that allowed this to happen suffer consequences. Who in their right mind would do something like this? It says a lot about the Executor of Estate. I have a feeling Anita is nice and toasty in hell. The person that took that dog to the vet to be euthanized is going to be joining her when their time is up.

I’m wondering why “(soon-to-be-deceased)” doesn’t appear after “Miss Emma” in the obituary above. The accomplice(s) knew the plan at that point.
Something Hitchcockian about someone whose last wish is murder. I wish this were just a movie.
Time’s up. Let’s do all we can to make sure that Emma’s death spurs change. Let’s push for legislation that makes it illegal to kill a healthy pet. When animal cruelty is a possible felony nearly everywhere, this should have been done years ago. Let’s get more involved in rescue transport, fostering, volunteering, lobbying, and in all other ways saving animal lives.
Above all, those of us who consider pets as full members of the family need to do a better job confronting horrible behavior by those who view them as expendable property. The problem is the former tend to be the nicest people, unwilling to call in the authorities, even when heinous circumstances cry out for it.
The animals can’t. We are their voice. The gloves must come off NOW.

“She was devoted to her four-legged friends,” Obviously not. The person who allowed this to happen, picked up Emma and knowingly took her to the vet to be euthanized needs the same. Needless and disgusting. This woman’s legacy is now forever marred thanks to such a cruel act.
