Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

My heart is breaking for the family of this truly wonderful man. To my sweet, beautiful friend Brenda — you were blessed to share your life with Arlin, and he was just as blessed to have your unconditional love and dedication to your 55 years of life together. You raised a beautiful, loving family together — who will now be watched over by their guardian angel from his home in Heaven. You both were so loving and welcoming to me when I was a young, lonely girl being away from my home and family for the first time in my life. I am forever thankful for the blessing of your precious friendship. My heart is with you.

Brenda, he lives in heaven now and you will go to him there. In the meantime he would want you to go on living. He knows you have those children and grandchildren to love. Come home to the mountains when you can. I pray for you to stay strong. Love ye girl, Becky Moore

To my one and only Brother Arlin with whom I shared a bed with for the first twenty years of our lives. This closeness left us joined at the hip as the saying goes. We sometimes were accursed of having a silent conversation. With Arlins passing I feel like a part of myself left this life with him. My brother I have always loved you and I always will
Love you Brother.
Phillip

Arlin was the wisest man I know. A man of great wisdom as long as I’ve known him. Jim & I knew Arlin before we were saved he was our LANCE man at Pizza Cabin.. He always had a grin like yeah I know. He taught the first class we ever took that gave us the foundation of Family Life. That was the name of it, & it set us up for child care as well. Brenda you were his soul mate, you two were & are very special to Jim & I.
