Obituary

Christopher “Chris” Alan Vargo, 62, of Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1961, in Lincoln Park, Michigan to the late John Vargo.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Kathy L. Vargo; daughter, Erika L. Peters (Mark); son, John A. Sorrentino, Jr. (Kaitlin); granddaughters, Lauren Peters, Madison Sorrentino, and Harper Sorrentino; grandson, Jackson Peters; sisters, Susan McKenna (Patrick) and Edith Tosh (Dennis); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chris graduated from Lincoln Park High School in Lincoln Park, Michigan, class of 1979. He joined the United States Navy in April 1991 and served proudly until March 1999. After his honorable discharge, Chris worked in the Non-Destructive Testing field in a variety of roles until starting Dominion NDT Services, Inc. in 2006. His role as Founder and President of Dominion NDT was a great source of pride up until his passing. His knowledge and love for the industry will never be forgotten through the relationships he developed with so many.

Chris was a friend to many but his proudest accomplishment was his family. He had a love of hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, boating, and traveling. Chris never met a stranger as he always found a way to share in conversation.

A service in the chapel will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. There will be a celebration of life immediately following at the Chesdin Landing Clubhouse, 21801 Lake Chesdin Parkway, Chesterfield, VA 23838.
