Obituary

Edward Anderson Washington IV was born in Washington D.C. on June 30, 1954 to Edward Anderson Washington III and Rosa Beatrice (Davis) Washington.

Affectionately called, by family and friends, “Junior” was educated by the Richmond Public School system. Following in his father’s footsteps he became a brick Mason. Together they were instrumental in brick work done on numerous Richmond businesses and homes. Taking pride in his work, he was always excited to point out various projects that he’d completed.

Junior had a friendly smile for everyone he met, no one was considered a stranger. He began a relationship with God early in his life. Though he faced many challenges his faith enabled him to overcome and defeat his GREATEST challenge. In the last hours of his earthly life, Junior was able to give three gifts of life. He assisted three people in overcoming the greatest challenges in their lives by donating 3 of his vital organs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rosa Washington; his youngest son, Dexter Bassett, and a great nephew Antonio “TJ” Washington. He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Edward Bassett and a daughter, Dawnika Isler; granddaughters, Faith Bassett, Yasmine Bassett, Aaliyah Bassett, Nataeja Green, and Harmonie; grandsons, Javonte, Calvin, and Montreal; a brother, Marvin Wasington (Theresa). He has, as well, left a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
