Obituary

Elmer Maurice O’Neil, 90, of Richmond, VA, peacefully transitioned to heaven March 19, 2024. He was born January 24, 1934 in Chenango County, NY to the late Marjorie and Edward O’Neil.

Elmer is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Bobbie Delene O’Neil; children, Debbie Carter (Lee), Tammy Conner (Wendell), Ted Carter (Lisa), and Edward O’Neil (Michelle); Stepsons, Dennie (Bubba) Ellis (Barbara), Jerry Rawles; grandchildren: Jennifer (Brandon), Caitlin (Austin), Kelsey (Chris), Daniel (Alexis), Cheyanne, Sloane, Reilly, Teddy (Brittani), Aaron, Joe, Kaitlyn, Angel, Kimberly, and Clinton; great grandchildren: Nadia, DJ, Kameron, Liam, Cayden, Waylon, Makenzi, Dakota, Skyler, and Dillon. He is survived by his brother, Frederick O’Neil and sister, Sandra Babauta.

His military career was served in the U.S. Air Force.  He has been a member of Moose Lodge 141 in Suffolk, VA since 1980.  He spent the last 24 years of his career as a Courier for the Virginia Cancer Institute until his retirement on January 2, 2024.

Elmer will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and radiant personality. He had a true passion for Cruises, Fishing, Bowling, Nascar, and supporting the Washington Redskins.

Elmer will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, laughter and love for family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his presence.

The public viewing and Service will be held at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road on March 29, 2024 at 5 p.m. Service at 6:00 p.m. Private Burial will be on Saturday March 30, 2024 in Suffolk, VA at Holly Lawn Cemetery.
