Obituary

Leggett, Fannie Elizabeth Bowen, peacefully entered eternal rest on the morning of October 4, 2008. Born August 18, 1928 in Martin County, NC, she was highly respected and dearly loved by a host of friends and relatives, including her six children and their families: Susan Taylor, Richie and Raymond Cumbea, Carlyle and Margaret Leggett, Lue and Gordon Gaudlitz, Lynn Lewis, and Liz and Bill Himes. Grandchildren are Susan’s daughter, Cherish Duchene, Richie’s daughter, Valerie, Carlyle’s sons, Craig, Jeremy, and Christopher, Lue’s sons, T.J. and Paul Borawski, Lynn’s sons, Travis and Eric Shaver, and Liz’s sons, Russell and Matthew. She had eight great-grandchildren. She retired from Flowers Baking Company. As a devout Christian woman, she attended Kingsland Baptist Church and was a member of the Swinging Seniors Bowling League. She kept her family close by preparing Sunday dinner for the entire family almost every week. An intelligent and curious woman, she showed her concern for our environment with a vigorous recycling effort and maintained an interest in politics and current events. She was a good and loyal friend and she will be missed by many people. A feisty and caring woman, many can attest that this world is a better place because she was here. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm Monday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). There will be an additional visitation on Tuesday at the Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston, NC. A graveside service will be held in the Bowen Family Cemetery in Williamston, NC on Wednesday.
