Obituary

Gordon Burt Williams III, age 49, passed away Sunday May 28, 2023, at Regional Memorial Hospital after years of battling health issues. He was born December 17,1973 to Debra Koren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Gordon ‘Pawpaw’ Williams Sr. and Mary Williams as well as his loving wife Michelle ‘Missy’ Williams.

Although born in North Carolina, Burt grew up in Hopewell, VA where he received his education. As an adult he was employed by Sussex State Prison for many years where he made a lot of friends who became more like family to him.  As much as he enjoyed watching WWE and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, he was happiest spending  time with friends and family. He appreciated  the simple things in life and accepted everyone for who they were.

Burt never met a stranger as he befriended everyone he met and was loved by all who knew him. His greatest asset, his heart, may have also been his biggest liability as he was always so eager to help anyone that needed it, even if it meant going without.

Burt is survived by his mother, Debra Koren, stepfather John Everett, four children, Patience Moore, Matthew Williams, Angel Williams, Abigail Williams, one brother, Michael Williams (Tara), two sisters, Jennifer Williams, Nichole Williams (Joel) as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. His family is saddened by his passing but finds peace in knowing he will rest in Heaven with his wife for eternity.

The memorial service  will be held on Thursday June 8th, 2023 from 2-4 pm at Petersburg Library Event Center, 201 W Washington Street, Petersburg Va 23803.  All are welcome to attend.

The family will be having a private graveside ceremony

Flowers and cards can be sent to 5805 Pollard Dr. Richmond, Va 23226

  4. Officer Williams I think you for being a great coworker who would always give me a break on post and never complain. You were also a great friend even when I used to fussed at you for drinking all them sodas 😂😂. You would hind them in medical and tell me no Coles this is the same sodas (which I knew it wasn’t) . Thank you for your kindness, your friendship , your laughs and smile . My condolences and prayers to the family.
