Obituary

James Clifford Rutledge, 83, of N. Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Rutledge, and Eva Hurt Rutledge Cliborne; brother, Joseph Rutledge; and sister, Linda Rutledge Tipton. James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Katheryn “Kitty” Sutherland Rutledge; daughter, Tina Rutledge Wyzisk (Joey); son, Mark Rutledge (Melody); and grandchildren, Kyle, Wade, Darby, and Jackson. James retired from Progressive Group Alliance, September 2005 after 29 years of service. He was a dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather. James loved gardening, Nascar Racing, boxing and hanging out at the campground. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm with his Celebration of Life to follow at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Virginia Down Syndrome Association at www.virginiadsa.org or Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation-Hospice at www.givebsmh.org.  Online condolences at www.morrissett.com

    So sorry to hear of his passing. Wasn’t the same not seeing his truck go up and down the road. to see him waving or stopping out front to ask how we have been. Lots of years have passed but I still remember the bonfires on top of the sleigh riding hill, and my dad and him hanging out talking around the fire, while all of us kids would sleighride till we couldn’t feel our feet good enough to walk back up the hill.
