Obituary

Crane, James W., 76, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at his home. Born in West Virginia, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian L. Crane, parents, Fred and Louella Crane, and sister, Juanita. A US Air Force veteran, he was a retired truck driver with an excellent service record. He later owned and operated J.C.S. Small Engine Repair. Jimmy was a devoted husband, loving Papa, and good friend to many. He enjoyed fishing, camping, the Outer Banks, go-kart racing, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by a son, James S. Irvin (Sarah); six grandchildren, Deborah Graves (Steve), Sean Irvin (Lori), Jennifer McMahon (Sean), Kathy Hairfield (Jason), Aynsley Irvin, and Paul Kane; eleven great-grandchildren, Emily, Jay, and Rhyan Irvin, Katie and Tommy Graves, Kelsey, Riley, and Camden McMahon, Avery, Bailey, and Easton Hairfield; brother, Fred Crane (Barbara); cousin, Amanda Miller (Larry); and numerous other loving family members. The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2011, at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), Richmond, VA, where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Rd., Chesterfield. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Richmond-Petersburg Office, 4355 Cox Rd., Glen Allen, VA 23060.

  1. I will miss Jimmy’s way of always making things lighter and better, by his humor. From crabbing at the beach when I was younger to playing around and picking on my kids as they grew up.

He loved his family and friends without condition. He will be missed for his easy smile, humor and late night conversations on the phone. God Bless all of you.
