Obituary

With great sorrow, Father, grandfather, brother and friend, James Wesley Battle went to be with the Lord Friday, May 5, 2023.  Born November 24, 1951, 71, favorably known as Jimmy, died in Chesterfield, Virginia, surrounded by his loved ones following a short battle with cancer.

Preceded in death by his parents Alice & William A. Battle Sr.; sister Judith Owen; Brother Dale Wayne Battle

He is survived by his four sons and 11 grandchildren, Henry Battle (Melissa) Henry, Jessica (Blair); James E. Battle Sr. (Bear)(Stephanie) James, Shelby; Kevin Battle (Sarah), Raegan, Sadie, Jake; Thomas Battle (Termite)(Krista) Leah, Jack, Christian, Isabella; Brothers William A. Battle Jr. (Bill), Michael Battle and many close friends.

James was born in Richmond, He had a love and passion for his business (Battle Oil) and his family. He started many very successful companies and enjoyed teaching all four of his boys. Mr. Battle took great pride in a good day’s work. Throughout his long career, he forged many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He enjoyed telling stories, helping people, spending time playing with all the beautiful animals he had, riding his John Deere tractors, and spending time with his loving family. 

He was a devoted father and grandfather who created a nickname for everyone. He looked forward to visits from his grandkids and instilled in them a love for farm life.  He had an amazing memory and told entertaining stories, sometimes with a hint of exaggeration. Even in his last few days, he told stories from throughout his life. He took pride in living on the family farm in Chesterfield. He loved working outdoors, improving his farm buildings and grounds, and restoring all the farm equipment.
