Obituary

Sprouse, K. Wayne, 74, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Born in Richmond, Wayne was a veteran of the US Army Reserve and a retired maintenance superintendent for the Chesterfield County Fire Department. He was a member of the Dale Ruritan Club for 27 years and served as Lt. District Governor and Zone Governor of Ruritan National, as well as Club President. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cora Ann Stephens Sprouse; daughter, Sharon S. Killen (James); son, Jerry W. Sprouse (Susan Acevedo); sister, Iona Reiordan; two brothers, Richard W. “Dick” Sprouse, Raymond M. “Buddy” Sprouse; three grandchildren, Elizabeth “Liz” Thomas, Eric and Mike Killen; three great-grandchildren, Mekenzie and Meghan Thomas, and Logan Killen. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10), Richmond. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, at Southside Baptist Church, 6000 Iron Bridge Rd., Richmond. Interment will follow in Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Rd., Chesterfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dale Ruritan Foundation, 5101 Ruritan Place, Richmond, VA 23234.

  2. So sorry about Wayne’s passing. I know he was greatly loved by all that knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of his family at this time.

    I served with Wayne in the USAR with the 56th STA HOSP unit back in the 1970s. Saw him about 10 years ago at one of the old USAR reunions. He was a gentleman soldier and an asset to that unit.James E. Slagle, LTC, MS, USAR (ret)
