Obituary

Emberton, Lois Wilkinson, 97, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 16, 2010. She was born May 14, 1913 to Ernest W. and Lucy Neal Wilkinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olvie D. Slick Emberton, her parents, two sisters, four brothers, one niece, and two nephews. She is survived by ten nieces and nephews, three of whom are Clarice Durham, Clarine Reekes, and Phyllis Basl; one sister-in-law, Ruthanna Wilkinson; and a number of great nieces and nephews. Since February 2005, Lois resided at Lucy Corr Village, where she received excellent care and compassion. Lois was a life-long member of the former Weatherford Baptist Church, was past matron of Manchester Chapter #53 O.E.S., and was employed by E. I. Dupont for twenty-three years, part of which time she held the office of union secretary. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Monday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10), followed by her funeral service at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Maury Cemetery. It was her request that there be no flowers. If you would like, the family suggests a contribution in her memory be made to Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad, 3500 Courthouse Rd., Richmond, VA 23236.
