Obituary

Burgess, Marqueis Tyrone departed this life on Thursday, December 17, 2009. Marqueis was born on March 28, 1988 in Mount Vernon, New York to his beloved parents, Walteria Lea Burgess and Hector Josephs. Hector Josephs preceded Marqueis in death. Marqueis graduated from Meadowbrook High School in June 2006. While attending Meadowbrook High School, Marqueis played on the junior and varsity basketball teams. Afterwards, he attended Virginia State University for two years. For the past two years, Marqueis had been employed at Macy’s, located in the Regency Mall in Richmond. Besides his mother, Walteria Lea Burgess, those left to cherish his precious memories are his sister and best friend, Marquail Tiesha McBride and fiancée, April Martin; step-son, Camden Martin; his devoted grandparents, Walter and Frances Burgess in Richmond, VA, Carmen Mothersill in Philadelphia, PA, and Peter Josephs in Spring, TX; great-grandmother, Alberta Warner in Greensboro, MD; uncles, Walter Burgess in Richmond, VA, Mark Josephs in Mount Vernon, NY, Courtney Josephs in Philadelphia, PA, and Howard Josephs in Milwaukee, WI; his aunts, Melody Boyd in Roanoke Rapids, NC, Donna Josephs in Mount Vernon, NY, Julie McEwan in Philadelphia, PA, and Paula Josephs in Milwaukee, WI; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends. His funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday at the Harvest International Full Baptist Center, 1017 W. Washington St., Petersburg, VA. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 12 noon Wednesday at the church. Interment to follow in the Wilkerson Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.

  2. Grandson, you will be dearly missed. I love you, and know that GOD will take care of you. Enjoy your DAD, Grandfather and all your family members you found waiting there for you. I only wished you could have stayed with us longer. However, I will always treasure the years that we shared. You were a remarkable young man.
