Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

He went by many names, Mikie, Michael, Big Mike, Sir Mike, Uncle Mike, Daddy Mike, or just Mike, no matter what you called him, he always called you a friend. Anyone that met Mike Liked him instantly. He was just that kind of person. He had a kind and gentle sole and would do anything he could to make your life easier and better. He loved his family dearly and was very proud of his children and their accomplishments. He strived to be the best person he could be in everything he did. You gave us all so many beautiful memories and left us with a huge hole in our hearts. I love and miss you beyond words. You left us with things left unsaid and undone. You left us just too soon. You will be forever loved and forever missed, and always close to my heart.

To the Kirkland family – I am so sorry for your loss. During these difficult times I find comfort with the scripture at Revelation 21:3,4 where God promises to do away with all sickness and death. May you find comfort in knowing that your dear one is safe in the memory of God, who will remember every detail about him and bring him back again.

My Dear Brother … Mike, I love you very much and will miss you every day until God calls me home to join you. You are a beautiful soul and will make a glorious angel in God’s angel band. Your love of music makes you ‘special’ and one day I desire to hear you play again. I will always treasure our time together both in person and on FaceBook. Reserve a seat for me!
Denese, Vic, and Tony … You have my sincere fervent prayers for your comfort, peace, and love. I am here anytime if you need me.
With love, Fretta Noel-McDaniel
