Obituary

Maurice “Sputnick” Heredeen, 58, of Chesterfield, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 22, 2017. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elisabeth Heredeen. He is survived by his father, Franko Heredeen; daughters, Jennifer Wykoff (Chris) and Sonja Heredeen; significant other, Teresa Joyce; former wife, Monica Heredeen; siblings, Frank Heredeen (Ashley), Marie Youngpeter (Steve), Linda Hands (Bob), Lisa Giddens (John), and Missy Bohannan (Greg); granddaughters, Elladeen and Claire; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sput was a man who was full of life, love, and Miller Lite. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him, and he would say, “It beez that way.” The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), where a celebration of his life will follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Richmond Fisher House Foundation, 300 Arboretum Place, Ste. 660, Richmond, VA 23236.

  1. Sput was one of the kindest and selfless people I’ve ever known. What a gentle and funny personality, and always willing to help anyone. I will always cherish the great memories serving in the Army with him during the 1990s. I admired him as a father to his daughters, a leader to his fellow soldiers, and a friend to us all. He will be truly missed. God’s speed to his family!
